1.Pre-beginner: Learning to put face in the water, blow bubbles and float

2.Beginner: Can put face in the water, blow bubbles and kick to the side with face down

3.Advanced Beginner: Can do short deep water swims to the wall, take breaths while swimming and float on back.

4.Intermediate: Deep water safe! Can make it across a 25 yard pool doing something resembling Freestyle

5.Advanced: Can do 2-3 of the competitive strokes legally

6.Competitive: 3-4 competitive strokes legal and needs stroke technique
